We really are on the other side of the earth. It is starting to dawn on me now. Things you normally take for granted are different here, as they should be, considering the amount of hours it took for us to reach our destination. On the backside (or downside if you prefer) of the planet I guess you would truly except life to be a slightly.. upside-down, turned around and twisted.
Down under, people drive on the other side of the road, in the other side of the car. When it feels like winter is about to come, it is actually heading towards summer. The moon is shaped as a smiling mouth instead of a 'C', the water is spinning in the opposite direction when emptying the bathtub and to search for a warmer climate you travel up north instead of south.
I am amazed by the effect traveling to a new world and lifestyle has on me. I keep doing things I would never have thought I would do, even the day before. I am driving completely insane-ish (sort of, since keeping on the wrong..sorry LEFT.. side of the road at the speed of 100 km/h) in my own (sort of, since Meit is actually the official owner) silver car. I have jumped out of platforms and flown through the air at a speed of 150 km/h. I have learned how to cook savory muffins and special dishes with kumera (which I am sooooo going to miss, but totally didn't know about before) and I have followed two New Zealand doctors on their normal working days.
This time away from home seems to be a lot about trying new things, finding out new things and challenging yourself when doing it. Just the way I hoped it would be, backpacking on the other side of the earth.
~Bad news, time flies by too fast. But hey, guess what, you're the pilot.~

You seem to be learning a lot, Kajsa! And you still have several months left of your journey. I do like to read your blog.
